Mark your progress
Use row counters, notes or simple marks on the pattern. Losing your place is one of the most avoidable beginner frustrations.
Technique comes before speed
Do not rush to “read patterns fluently.” First make the common stitches familiar enough that the abbreviations refer to real movements in your hands.
